Job Description

Job Summary :
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Health and Human Performance - Physical Education Teaching will teach inthe following areas: foundations of physical education, curriculum and teaching methods, adapted physical activity, and physical activityassessment. The HHP department includes 4 majors: Exercise Science, Health and Fitness, Health and Physical Education Teaching (includedwithin the Teacher Education program) and Sport Management. The HHP department also provides a course for the general education curriculumand healthy lifestyle courses that are offered to all students. The department provides instruction in the majors of HHP, and the minors inSport Management and Coaching. Other duties will include advising undergraduate students and providing service to the department and thecollege.
Essential Functions :
Support the mission, vision, and values of Bethel College Facilitatestudent learning Mentor undergraduate research Participate in the recruitment process of students that meet departmentalstandards Foster the development of excellence in teaching within the department Utilize effective teaching methods andstrategies Promote collegiality and collaborative relationships with other Bethel College faculty and staff Demonstrateflexibility and willingness to learn and adapt to changing work processes. Knowledge of current developments in the Health andPhysical education discipline and pedagogy The ability to utilize effective teaching methods and strategies Regularengagement in the College's Employment Experiences program through supervising and mentoring students who are fulfilling the requirements ofthis program within their department, including exceptional and sustained opportunities for student participation in research and otherforms of meaningful departmental work. Satisfy the duties of a Campus Security Authority (CSA) relating to Jeanne Clery Disclosureof Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act ("Clery Act") and satisfy the duties of an Official with Authority (OWA) andMandated Reporter relating to Title IX and the Bethel College Equal Opportunity, Harassment, &Non-Discrimination Policy and Procedures Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete theresponsibilities of the position Comply with Bethel College policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Technological savvy Ability to successfully learn the college's LMS Ability to communicate effectively with students,administrators, faculty, staff, and outside constituencies Strong organizational and management skills Ability tocoordinate multiple tasks under tight deadlines and stressful situations
Education & Experience :
Master's degreerequired in health and human performance (or related field) PhD. Preferred. Experience with teaching in the collegiateor
K-12 HPE
environment Previous collegiate teaching experience is a plus
Necessary Skills :
Ability tocommunicate with students Ability to mentor and equip students to realize academic, personal, and career goals Abilityto assist students in fulfilling all requirements for their degrees or certification of outside agencies.

Ability to perform tasks both sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Ability tofunction well in a standard office setting Medium/indoor work environment
