The Associate Director of Student Onboarding and Success provides leadership and strategic oversight for onboarding and advising efforts within the Student Onboarding and Success (SOS) department at Central Carolina Community College. This role supervises and supports Education Navigators , ensuring that advising services, student outreach, and onboarding initiatives align with institutional priorities and promote student success. The Associate Director fosters a collaborative and supportive team environment by providing mentorship, coordinating professional development, and helping ensure staff are equipped with the tools and knowledge needed to effectively advise and support students. Working closely with faculty, administrators, and campus partners, the Associate Director helps ensure a coordinated and student-centered onboarding experience. This position contributes to the development of processes, training, and resources that strengthen advising practices and support student persistence and completion. Through leadership, collaboration, and a focus on continuous improvement, the Associate Director plays a key role in advancing student access, engagement, and success at the college. Travel required within the service area. Evening and weekend work may be required for events and student programs. This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required. Leadership & Supervision Supervise and support Education Navigators, ensuring advising, outreach, and onboarding services align with institutional priorities and support student success. Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to staff to promote professional growth and effective student support practices. Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support continuous staff development. Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment that encourages accountability, innovation, and shared responsibility for student success. Training, Professional Development, and Resource Development Coordinate and lead training for new Education Navigators to ensure understanding of essential job responsibilities, institutional processes, and student support practices. Collaborate with departmental leadership to plan and facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities, team meetings, and divisional meetings. Support the development of advising resources, training materials, and tools that strengthen onboarding and advising practices across the team. Advising and Student Onboarding Leadership Provide strategic oversight of advising and onboarding initiatives to ensure a seamless and student-centered transition into the college. Monitor advising practices and student support efforts to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery. Maintain awareness of advising processes and student needs in order to identify opportunities to strengthen onboarding experiences and remove barriers to student success. Contribute to the development and refinement of processes, training, and resources that strengthen advising effectiveness and student onboarding. Review advising and student success data to inform decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement. Support departmental and institutional efforts focused on improving student outcomes and enhancing the student experience. Assist Education Navigators in addressing complex student situations and resolving onboarding or advising challenges. Support coordination of advising coverage, scheduling, and service delivery to ensure students receive timely and effective assistance. Serve as a resource for advisors regarding institutional policies, procedures, and student support strategies. Maintain an active advising caseload to support students through the onboarding and enrollment process and remain engaged in current advising practices. Collaboration and Institutional Support Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and campus partners to support holistic student success. Participate in college committees, meetings, and professional development activities. Maintain accurate records of advising interactions and student progress using institutional systems. Contribute to data tracking and reporting related to student onboarding and advising outcomes. Support the college's commitment to student access and success. Additional Duties Attend required departmental, divisional, and college meetings. Complete required professional development. Perform other duties as assigned. Required educational background:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Required kind and number years of work experience: Three years of experience in student services, academic advising, admissions, or a related higher education setting. Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Strong organizational, leadership, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and support the daily operations of advising and onboarding services. Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and support staff while fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment. Experience supporting advising operations, including managing a student caseload and maintaining accurate student records. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Ability to collaborate across departments and build strong working relationships that support coordinated student services and institutional goals. Ability to work with diverse student populations and support a student-centered environment. Experience using technology systems such as student information systems, CRM platforms, or learning management systems. Commitment to the open-door mission of the community college and to supporting student access, engagement, and success. Ability to contribute positively as a member of a leadership team by supporting shared goals, encouraging collaboration, and maintaining a professional and solutions-oriented work environment. Master's degree from an accredited institution Academic and career advising or related experience Supervisory experience in higher education Experience working in a community college environment Bilingual proficiency
