Job Description
DescriptionThe Amazon Web Services Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking an Associate Engagement Manager (EM) to join our team and support the delivery of cloud solution projects. In this role, you will develop your technical knowledge and project leadership skills while contributing to successful implementations of AWS-based solutions for our clients. You will learn to bridge business requirements with technical solutions, participating in technical discussions and supporting alignment with customer outcomes. You will begin developing familiarity with AWS frameworks like Well-Architected and Cloud Adoption Framework while building technical credibility with stakeholders. You will learn to clarify customer needs into technical requirements, decompose problems with guidance, and begin understanding trade-off decisions considering performance, scalability, security, and business impact. You will develop your technology and program/project management skills, learning to validate technical solutions against business goals, recognize when additional technical evaluation is needed, and manage technical risks with support from senior team members. You will be expected to achieve and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., certifications from AWS, agile practices, industry-recognized educational organizations specific to a domain, Professional Management Institute). You will develop domain-specific expertise and learn to effectively communicate technical concepts, restating them in terms that both technical and business stakeholders understand. In this role, you will deliver straightforward projects or workstreams to support business outcomes, executing a cloud strategy or vision. You will lead technical teams composed of AWS, customer, and potentially partner team members. You will learn accepted commercial frameworks and EM best practices (e.g., delivery quality, engagement security, sales-to-delivery transition), and develop your ability to collaborate across diverse groups to deliver for customers. You will dive deep into engagement contracts to constructively discuss proposed scope, financials, and timeline, as well as track customer engagement schedules, scope, financials, and outcomes consistent with the contract. You will use resource, schedule, and scope data to deliver engagements consistent with EM best practices. You will learn to foresee and manage risks and issues, make data-driven decisions, and communicate them to leadership and customers as warranted. You will escalate engagement issues in a timely manner to internal stakeholders. You will assist with onboarding and establishing team ways of working, and learn to build effective relationships with appropriate stakeholders, facilitating stakeholder groups for timely decisions. You will develop knowledge of frameworks (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Scaled Agile, ITIL, EDF, Well-Architected Framework, Cloud Adoption Framework), product management principles, AWS best practices, and AWS service offerings (e.g., ProServe offerings). You will learn to identify engagement gaps and validate that technical solutions meet business objectives and engagement goals. You will employ reusable assets and learn to improve efficiency by creating and evolving team and engagement documentation. You will partner with senior team members to lead continuous improvement activities like Correction of Errors (COE) to improve the overall quality of AWS offerings and processes. You will learn to implement operational excellence (e.g., time sheets, reports, status updates) and accelerate progress by creating or optimizing team processes. AWS experts help our customers design, build, operate, and secure their cloud environments. Customers innovate with AWS Professional Services, upskill with AWS Training and Certification, optimize with AWS Support and Managed Services, and meet objectives with AWS Security Assurance Services. Our expertise and emerging technologies include AWS Partners, AWS Sovereign Cloud, AWS International Product, and the Generative AI Innovation Center. You'll join a diverse team of technical experts in dozens of countries who help customers achieve more with the AWS cloud. Key job responsibilities As a developing technology program/project manager, you will be responsible for: Delivering straightforward cloud projects or workstreams that support customer business outcomes, executing against an established cloud strategy or vision Learning AWS services, architectures, and best practices to participate in technical discussions and support strategic planning Learning to bridge business requirements with technical solutions, clarifying business and technical requirements and mapping them to customer business objectives Learning to distill customer needs into clear technical requirements and connect them to engagement goals and business outcomes Decomposing problems into actionable solutions with guidance from senior team members, while developing the ability to identify engagement gaps Contributing to technical and engagement documentation, improving efficiency by creating and evolving team and engagement documentation, and employing reusable assetsBasic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related science/technical fields
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training or certifications
- Experience with project delivery
- Experience in project management of technical programs
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organizationPreferred Qualifications
- project management certification such as PMP, Scrum, or other Agile certification
- Experience working with and presenting to C-level executives, IT, and lines of businesses across organizations or equivalent
- AWS Associate level certification
