Production/manufacturing work, hand and power tools, machine operation, blueprint/work-order reading, tape measure/calipers/micrometer use, material handling, overhead crane certification, quality inspection, 5S, and dependable attendance. Position Overview This first-shift production role supports the fabrication and movement of industrial products by reading work instructions, using shop tools and equipment, handling materials, inspecting finished work, and completing production documentation accurately. The position is best suited for a dependable team member who wants steady manufacturing work and takes pride in quality and safety. The work involves selecting parts and materials, following blueprints and work order process sheets, operating production equipment, performing visual and physical inspections, and helping ensure finished products are correctly identified, stacked, protected, and ready for the next step or shipment. Primary Responsibilities- Read and follow blueprints, work orders, pick lists, process sheets, and verbal or written production instructions.
- Use hand tools, power tools, presses, machines, and production equipment to complete quality parts and products.
- Measure and inspect work using a tape measure, calipers, micrometer, square, protractor, and other measurement tools.
- Identify standard and metric hardware and match sockets, wrenches, bolts, and related hardware correctly.
- Select, count, move, identify, and stage materials or parts to and from work cells while preventing damage and injury.
- Complete first-piece and ongoing inspections to confirm quality before continuing production.
- Report improper operations, defective materials, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions to supervision.
- Operate floor-controlled overhead cranes and use chains, grabs, slings, and spreader bars according to safety procedures after certification.
- Record accurate time, quantity, and work-order information and maintain a clean, organized 5S work area.
- Contribute ideas for improvement and support safety, quality, and environmental practices. Background and Skills
- High school diploma or GED required, or equivalent related experience/training.
- Hand and power tool experience preferred.
- Machine operation, production equipment, or manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Blueprint reading and work-order interpretation experience is helpful.
- Ability to perform basic math using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read simple instructions, memos, short correspondence, safety rules, and production documents.
- Willingness and ability to complete in-house forklift and overhead crane certification before operating required equipment.
- Dependable attendance, teamwork, adaptability, and willingness to learn new processes. Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing setting with regular use of hands, arms, tools, parts, and production equipment.
- Must be able to lift and move heavy items as needed and follow safe material-handling practices.
- Work may involve sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling depending on production needs.
- Close vision and focus adjustment are required for inspection, measurement, and detailed production work.
