Job Description This role as a manufacturing leader on the second shift involves overseeing production staff and coordinating daily operations to ensure the production of quality products is done safely, efficiently, and on time. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on supervisor capable of planning, training, managing priorities, solving production challenges, and collaborating across departments to meet customer needs. The successful candidate will possess discipline, attention to detail, a focus on safety, and the ability to lead a team while also being willing to step in to assist with tasks when necessary. This position involves aspects of scheduling, inventory management, quality assurance, process enhancement, employee guidance, and communication with various internal and external stakeholders. Primary Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate manufacturing personnel to achieve production, quality, safety, and shipment targets. Plan daily operations, create schedules, streamline workflow, assign duties, and adjust staffing levels or overtime as needed based on evolving business requirements. Collaborate with planning and material control teams to establish timelines and workload distribution within departments to align with customer delivery dates. Develop process plans taking into account personnel, equipment, resources, materials, floor space, and product flow. Train new and existing employees, encourage cross-training, conduct departmental meetings, and establish clear work instructions and protocols. Lead quality initiatives including inspection records, engineering adjustments, adherence to ISO protocols, and corrective actions in production processes/products. Investigate and resolve issues related to production, customers, quality, materials, and equipment in collaboration with employees, engineering, sales, vendors, and other departments. Cultivate a safe work environment, perform safety inspections, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations by employees. Support Lean methodology, 5S practices, continuous improvement efforts, efficiency enhancements, cost-containment, and workforce adaptability in the assigned area. Conduct interviews, hire employees, provide training, offer guidance, conduct performance evaluations, administer rewards, address disciplinary matters, and resolve employee issues in accordance with company policies. Background and Skills Prior experience in manufacturing supervision is required; experience managing 0-20 employees is highly desirable. Familiarity with ISO-certified quality environments is preferred. Knowledge of safety regulations; possession of OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus. Experience in production scheduling, inventory coordination, procedural documentation, development of training materials, and resolution of customer product issues. Familiarity with SAP is advantageous; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general office systems is essential. An associate degree or technical education in industrial technology or a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience may be considered. Ability to interpret safety guidelines, operational instructions, maintenance procedures, blueprints, schedules, and protocols. Strong leadership qualities, organizational skills, communication abilities, judgment, delegation skills, problem-solving aptitude, and conflict-resolution skills. Work Environment / Physical Requirements Shifts may include second-shift hours with extended coverage into the evening; flexibility in schedule may be required to meet production demands. Engage in an active plant floor environment with exposure to moving machinery and occasional exposure to elevated areas, fumes, weather conditions, electrical hazards, or vibrations. Must be capable of standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, speaking, and hearing as needed for leadership on the plant floor.
