Associate Pastor with Specialization in Family Ministry

Position Summary:

Gateway Church is seeking a passionate, biblically grounded, and servant-hearted Associate Pastor to join our ministry team. The Associate Pastor will support the Senior Pastor in providing spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and oversight of key ministry areas. The primary focus will be on Family Ministry which includes: Teaching and Discipleship by equipping our youth and family age congregants for ministry while assisting in the overall shepherding of the church. This role must be committed to the authority of Scripture, and fulfilling both The Great Commission and The Great Commandment ( Matt 28:16-20; Matt 22:36-40).

Key Responsibilities:

Preaching & Teaching:

Semi-regularly preach and teach the Word of God in worship services, bible studies, small groups, and special events. Prepare and deliver biblically sound sermons in cooperation with the Senior Pastor.

Ministry Oversight:

In cooperation with the

Senior Pastor:

oversee and provide instructional coverage for specific ministries as assigned. To include, but not limited to, Family Ministry, Youth Ministry, Young Adults, Small Groups.

Pastoral Care:

Provide spiritual counseling, hospital visitation, wedding and funeral support, and crisis care to church members and attendees as needed..

Discipleship & Equipping:

Lead, develop and or support existing discipleship and mentoring programs. Supporting and equipping lay leaders and volunteers for ministry service. Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders.

Administrative Support:

Assist the Senior Pastor with church administration, and strategic planning in conjunction with other church leaders.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the Senior Pastor, fellow elders, deacons, ministry leaders, and church staff to foster unity and advance the mission of the church.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies, Theology, Ministry or a closely related field from an accredited institution; preferred.

Experience:

At least 1 year of ministry experience (can include pastoral roles, youth ministry, discipleship, preaching, or other church leadership experience). Recent seminary graduate with relevant internship or volunteer ministry experience are encouraged to apply.

Calling & Character:

Must have a clear sense of God's call to vocational ministry. Demonstrate a strong personal walk with Christ, moral integrity, and servant's heart. Affirm and uphold Gateway Church's Statement of Faith and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Exhibit strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and proven ability to take initiative and deliver results independently. Aspirations to advance biblical education, including but not limited to Master's degree and continuing education certifications.
