JOB DESCRIPTION

The position of Associate Planner is the entry-level position within Avalon Engineering with opportunity for advancement. Functions Review or assist in the review of moderately difficult development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes, plans, and regulations. Prepares rezonings, ordinance amendments, site plans, special exceptions, and deviations submittal packages with planning analysis to government bodies. Coordinates preparation of public and private development projects and resubmittals. Present projects to County and City Boards. Knowledge Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning and research and data collection, effective writing techniques, computer and GIS programs and applications Skills Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously, to work independently and in a team environment, facilitate in-person and virtual public participation activities, and the ability to be adaptable to perform under deadlines Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy, or a related area of study in addition to 2 or more years of planning experience. Ability to become a Certified Planner within 2 years of employment. Please note that the selected candidate will be required to pass drug, background, and reference screening.
