Asst JH Volleyball Coach (2026-2027)

English Valleys CSD is seeking an energetic person interested in coaching junior high volleyball for the 26-27 season. Ideal candidate will have a love of the game and be excited to instill it in Junior High Athletes. EV is based out of North English, Iowa, which is approx. 15 miles South of I-80 and 45 minutes West of Iowa City/Coralville. EV is a 1A school with lots of talent in their young players. If you want to be a part of improving our program, please apply. An Asst Junior High Volleyball Coach is responsible for helping with the junior high volleyball program, which includes:

Coaching & Supervision:

Leading & supervising the team & individual athletes to achieve high skill levels & an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, & teamwork. Design and implement practice plans, including drills, skill-building exercises, and game-specific training.

Program Management:

Designing training & game programs, coordinating & supervising the volleyball program, & ensuring compliance with guidelines.

Communiation:

Maintain open communication with all players, parents, coaches, athletic director and other staff members of the school district in regards to practices & competitions.

Career Improvement:

Desiring to continue career improvement & support the value of an education.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged sitting or standing, occasional physical exertion, stooping, bending, reaching, & some travel.

Work Environment:

Working in noisy & crowded environments, & occassionally in situations that may require exposure to blood or bodily fluids and hazardous chemicals.

Player Development:

Work with individual players to improve their skills and performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.

Game Day Preparation:

Prepare the team for competition.

Other Duties:

Attend staff meetings, participate in school events, and perform other tasks as assigned by the athletic director.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of Volleyball:

Strong understanding of volleyball rules, strategies, and techniques.

Coaching Experience:

Previous coaching experience, particularly at the junior high level, is preferred but not required.

CPR/First Aid:

Current certification in CPR and First Aid is required.

Organizational Skills:

Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and organize equipment and supplies.
