Glens Falls City School District is looking for a student-centered Athletic Trainer to join our team. This full-time role (10 months + 15 summer days) is perfect for a professional passionate about providing top-tier medical care and building a championship-level strength and conditioning program.
Job Description:
The duties of this position are extensive and are structured across two highly specialized domains: A. Athletic Training (Medical Safety and Care) 1. Provide immediate and emergency medical care for athletic injuries at all scheduled practices and home athletic events. 2. Conduct clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of athletic injuries and illnesses. 3. Design and supervise comprehensive rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for injured athletes, working under the direction of the School Medical Director. 4. Establish and maintain a professional, fully functional, and well-equipped athletic training facility. 5. Serve as the primary liaison between the athlete, physician, parents/guardians, coaches, and school nurses regarding injury status, medical history, and return-to-play decisions. 6. Maintain comprehensive and confidential medical records for all student-athlete injuries and treatments in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations. B. Strength & Conditioning and Administration 1. Design, implement, and supervise safe, structured, and sport-specific training programs (strength, speed, agility, and conditioning) for all GFHS athletic teams. 2. Provide expert instruction and supervision on proper lifting, spotting, and movement techniques, with a direct focus on injury prevention protocols. 3. Manage the high school's weight room facility, including establishing safety protocols, scheduling usage, and managing equipment maintenance/inventory. 4. Collaborate with the Athletic Director and coaches on annual budgeting and long-term capital planning for all medical supplies, athletic training equipment, and weight room/cardio equipment. 5. Lead educational efforts for student-athletes, coaches, and parents on topics including nutrition, hydration, recovery, and long-term athletic development principles. Job Qualifications
