A Brief Overview Responsible for specific patient care activities including pre-operative skin preparation, transporting, lifting and positioning of patients for surgical procedures and provides sterile scrub assistance to surgical team (MD, Assistant, ST, etc.) during variety of surgical cases in Operating Room. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. What you will do Provides assistance, pre, intra and post surgical procedure. Assists Surgeon/Registered Nurse in lifting, positioning, transferring and caring for sedated/anesthetized pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in the O.R. Performs pre-operative skin preparation and skin scrub as assigned outside of the O.R. on pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Performs miscellaneous duties. Participates in CIP, quality improvement and evaluation activities and implements measures to ensure that hospital, DNV and other quality standards are met. Maintains principles of aseptic technique according to hospital policy and procedure and AORN standards. Recognizes and responds appropriately to environmental safety factors.   • American Heart Association Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of operating room environment.
Knowledge of aseptic technique. Ability to read and follow simple written instructions as would be acquired through completion of high school or equivalent. Ability to read, write, understand, and effectively communicate in English with minimal mental application performing repetitive tasks and duties. Ability to organize and complete tasks. Ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers. Prepared by education, training or experience with regards to the age specific populations including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics preferred. Supervision Provided by this Position There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job. Physical Demands The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work

of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.). The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
