Job Description
Automation/Controls Technician/Electrician Power Systems International (PSI) has been in business since 1998. We focus on hydraulic drives and systems, lubrication, oil conditioning, and transfer, as well as process control. We design, manufacture, service, and support our equipment in standard and custom products. PSI supports multiple industries, including manufacturing, the military, marine, utilities, and oil and gas. Many of our projects focus on preserving our natural resources and environment, as well as commercializing innovations.
PSI has two primary goals:
providing excellent customer service and developing high-quality, integrated systems. This position is integral to both goals. Summary We are seeking an experienced and driven Automation/Controls Electrician or Technician to support our cutting-edge automation solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, automation technologies, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of supporting control and panel builds, assisting with start-up and commissioning and troubleshooting, working in diverse teams and supporting PSI customers.Responsibilities:
Interpret design of automated systems, including mechanical design, electrical design, and process control logic to correctly wire, test and troubleshoot control panel and integrated systems. Collaborate with sales and applications engineering teams to understand customer requirements and make suggestions for innovative solutions. Perform and assist with installation, commissioning, startup, and operation of new equipment. Provide support for the configuration of PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems. Integrate various automation components, including sensors, actuators, robots, and vision systems. Assist with the implementation of industrial communication networks, including Ethernet and other protocols.- Works efficiently to troubleshoot both instrumentation and electrical related problems effectively.
- Takes ownership for results and outcomes.
Qualifications:
Demonstrates a strong safety commitment Minimum of 5 years of experience in an instrumentation, electrical or controls position in manufacturing. Familiarity with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, etc), HMI development, and process control systems. Strong understanding of processes, hydraulics, feedback and control loops, data acquisition, and motion control. Proficiency in understanding and implementing industrial communication networks, including Ethernet. Experience with automation components such as sensors, actuators, robots, and vision systems. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills .- Experience interacting with clients and sales teams. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Accredited training with an Associate's degree in instrumentation or electrical technology preferred.
- An electrical journeyman's license is preferred, or the knowledge and skills to be considered electrically qualified according to NFPA 70e.
- A strong proficiency with computers, including MS Office applications Experience with robotics and vision systems is a plus.
Other Responsibilities Include:
- On-site work in our Jesup, Iowa, facility with occasional (expenses compensated) work in our Rockford, Illinois, facility.
