Job Description

Description The Automation Technician will design, program, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair robotic and other automation systems. This individual must be familiar with specifying and purchasing all components necessary for automated workflows and equipment. Responsibilities Installs, programs, reprograms, repairs, and maintains robots and equipment such as controllers, end-of-arm tooling, and camera systems Fabricate and repair EOAT's for use in new and existing automated programs Complete installation documentation, maintain service records, and provide detailed work instructions Coordinate team sign-off and handoff to production for new automation installations or reprograming Working closely with the internal team and outside sources on all current and future projects to evaluate efficiency, reliability, best selection and ROI, and make recommendations for enhancements Identify inefficiencies and issues in robotic systems, and communicate with internal team and outside sources to understand, diagnose, and troubleshoot/repair problems, including revisions to hardware (disassembly and reassembly of robots and peripheral equipment) and software (investigation of programming code for mistakes) Perform preventative and curative maintenance on robotic systems and components PLC programming Use tools, templates, and fixtures to align, fit, or assemble components Maintain and repair secondary equipment; i.e. fixtures, poke-yokes, etc. Use tools such as electronic voltmeters to test the performance of robotic assemblies; document procedures and test results Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams Building electrical controls and interfacing equipment Be mindful of budget when researching equipment for projects Working both individually and within a team Incorporating safety measures as needed Report any safety issues immediately Other duties and secondary functions as assigned Requirements Stand, walk, sit, work at a desk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch for duration of the shift Must have full range of body movements including use of hands to handle or feel objects Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds Repetitively grab, flex, and twist hands, shoulders, and upper extremities Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Due to time-sensitive nature of manufacturing, work outside of normal hours and weekend work may be required Must wear personal protective equipment as required Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Thorough understanding of diagnostic and repair tools, including multimeters Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete logs and reports Preferred Education and Experience Associates Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Technology, preferred At least 5 years of experience with no degree, or 3 years of experience with a degree Experience in the following: o PLCs o Cobots o 6 axis robotic programming with Yaskawa and Fanuc robots o Actify Spinfire, Auto CAD, or Solid Works CAD viewer o Electric circuit design or schematics o Pneumatic systems o EOAT design and fabrication Mechanical repair
