Automotive Mechanic / Technician (Used Car Dealership)

Job Description We are a growing used car dealership in Selma, NC looking for an experienced and dependable Automotive Mechanic / Technician to join our in-house reconditioning (recon) team. This role focuses on inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing vehicles to prepare them for retail sale. We are looking for someone who works efficiently, takes pride in quality work, and can handle a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform inspections on newly purchased inventory Diagnose and repair mechanical issues (check engine light, drivability, leaks, noises, etc.) Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tires, batteries, tune-ups) Suspension and steering repairs (control arms, ball joints, tie rods, shocks/struts) Cooling system repairs (radiators, water pumps, thermostats) Assist with A/C diagnostics and repairs (preferred) Use scan tools to read and diagnose OBD codes Communicate repair needs clearly to management/recon coordinator Ensure repairs are completed quickly and correctly Maintain clean and organized work area Document repairs and parts used Qualifications Minimum 2 years of mechanic/technician experience preferred Ability to diagnose vehicles efficiently Knowledge of common domestic and import vehicles Must have own basic tools (shop provides larger equipment) Valid driver's license required Reliable, punctual, and professional Ability to work independently with minimal supervision ASE certifications are a plus (not required) Preferred Skills Strong diagnostic skills Electrical troubleshooting A/C repair experience Experience working in a dealership or recon environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience Steady work (consistent inventory flow) Opportunity to grow into a lead technician role Friendly team environment Schedule Monday-Friday (Saturday optional depending on workload) Full-time hours Why Work With Us We are expanding and building a strong operation with multiple locations.
