Job Description
Job Summary Join our family owned automotive team as an Automotive Service Writer, where your enthusiasm for cars and exceptional customer service skills will drive success! In this energetic role, you will serve as the vital link between customers and our skilled technicians, ensuring a smooth and efficient service experience. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and sales will help customers understand their vehicle needs while maximizing service opportunities. This position offers a rewarding environment for those passionate about automotive repair and dedicated to delivering outstanding service. Duties Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs Write detailed and accurate repair orders, including descriptions of issues, recommended services, and estimated costs using auto estimating tools Communicate effectively with technicians to relay customer concerns and clarify repair procedures Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, alignments, suspension work, and transmission repairs to enhance customer satisfaction and shop revenue Manage cash handling transactions accurately while maintaining proper documentation and records Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs clearly, answering questions, and ensuring a positive experience from start to finish Collaborate with the service team to prioritize work orders, schedule appointments, and ensure timely completion of repairs Requirements Proven dealership experience or auto service management background with a strong understanding of automotive diagnostics and repair procedures Knowledge of mechanical systems including transmissions, oil changes, auto body repair, air brake systems, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, suspension components, tire services and brake systems Experience in auto estimating software and automotive service writing is highly desirable Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining professionalism under pressure Familiarity with mechanic tasks such as vehicle maintenance checks and basic repairs is a plus Strong sales skills with a focus on upselling services that meet customer needs while boosting shop profitability Mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems combined with dealership or service center experience enhances your effectiveness in this role Embark on a fulfilling career where your automotive expertise meets energetic customer engagement!
