Monday - Friday; 8:00A-2:45P The Automotive Technology Instructor is responsible for teaching automotive maintenance and repair theory and hands-on skills to students enrolled in the Career and Technical Education program. The instructor will prepare students for employment in the automotive field and for industry certification exams. Develop and implement curriculum for automotive technology courses to instruct students on theoretical and practical aspects of automotive systems; Demonstrate proper use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic technology and supervise hands-on lab activities and ensure safety protocols are followed; Stay current with automotive industry trends and technological advancements and collaborate with local automotive businesses for internship and job placement opportunities; Possess a current NYS Inspectors license as required for conducting automobile inspections. Possess a current automobile air conditioning license as required for servicing and repairing auto air conditioning systems. Evaluate and grade students' class work, labs, quizzes, exams, and practical skills exams; Track student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet varying abilities and learning styles; Prepare students for Precision Technical Assessment exams by reviewing materials and administering practice tests; Maintain accurate administrative records for attendance, grades, certification exam results, and other data; Participate in professional development activities to stay current in the field; Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, advisory boards, and industry partners in the community; Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates; Other duties as assigned. Regional Certification Officer. HighSchool Diploma or equivalent; Must hold a valid NYS Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification in Vehicle Mechanical Repair (including Heavy Equipment Operation and Repair) 7-12 or be eligible for this certificate based on relevant industry experience (4 years minimum or 2 years minimum with related degree). Relevant Industry experience includes, but is not limited to, work as an automotive engine technician/mechanic, transmission technician/re-builder, brake and suspension specialist, and/or alignment specialist.
