Job Description

As an AV Production Engineer , you are the single threaded owner of AV for assigned events. From first technical conversation with the client, through designing the AV plan, coordinating gear and local crews, to running the show on‑site, you are responsible for making the event look and sound exceptional and feel easy for the client.
You must be equally comfortable:
Deep in signal flow and troubleshooting Mixing Audio Talking to clients in plain English Leading local crews on long show days This is an Atlanta‑based role. Day‑to‑day when not traveling will be at our Atlanta facilities (warehouse, gear prep, testing, design). What You'll Do Pre‑Production & Design Own AV planning for assigned shows: room layouts, gear lists, signal routing plans, and staffing needs. Work directly with clients to understand show flow, content needs, and constraints. Coordinate with internal production, software, and logistics teams on gear prep, freight, and timelines. Build and review run‑of‑show and cue sheets. On‑Site Execution Lead AV on site for conferences and events, typically multi‑room / multi‑track. Manage and direct local crews (A1s, V1s, hands) to execute setups, rehearsals, and shows.
Operate or oversee:
Video:
Blackmagic switching/routing, camera setups, projection, IMAG, confidence monitors.
Audio:
Allen & Heath / Yamaha digital consoles, RF coordination, basic mixing for voice‑heavy shows.
Lighting:
Basic stage lighting and room wash setups. Deploy and operate our StreamCase systems for multi‑track recording/streaming. Troubleshoot signal flow, RF, and networking issues quickly and calmly under show conditions. Post‑Event & Ops Ensure recordings, assets, and reports are delivered correctly to internal teams and clients. Update checklists, diagrams, and playbooks based on lessons learned.
Help maintain warehouse standards:
gear prep, labeling, testing, and safety. What Makes You a Strong Fit Experience 3-5+ years in corporate / conference AV (other live production experience considered). Hands‑on with: Signal routing and basic networking in live environments Live audio mixing and RF fundamentals Video switching, camera, projection, and basic lighting setups Breakout room operations and support Mindset & Soft Skills Solution‑oriented: you see problems early and bring options, not drama. Comfortable owning shows end‑to‑end with light supervision. Excellent client‑facing communication; you can explain technical tradeoffs simply. Strong leadership with local crews; clear, calm, and safety‑first. Travel & Physical Requirements Willing and able to travel 15-20 weeks per year (domestic, occasional international). Able to work long event days and non‑standard hours when on site.
Comfortable with physical labor:
loading/unloading trucks, pushing cases, lifting gear, climbing ladders. Works safely and enforces safety for the entire crew. Nice to Have Experience with Blackmagic Design ecosystems (ATEM, routers, converters). Dante and Audio routing Video Editing Capabilities Experience with Allen & Heath and/or Yamaha digital mixers. Hybrid / streaming event experience (multi‑track, remote viewers, redundancy). Woodworking, scenic / production design, or fabrication experience (building simple sets, lecterns, signage, stage elements). Requirements Bachelor's degree in Audio-Visual Technology, Production Engineering, or related field. Proven experience working as an AV Production Engineer or similar role. Strong knowledge of audio, video, and lighting systems used in live productions. Proficient with AV control systems and digital media production equipment. Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to think critically under pressure. Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with various teams. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
