Job Description
The Gatlinburg Convention Center is hiring for an experienced Banquet Cook. Cooks will be responsible for all aspects of food preparation and execution to the exact specifications of the establishment, chef, and guest, including a final presentation for delivery to guests. They will be expected to skillfully apply culinary techniques including basic knife skills and demonstrate a working knowledge of all kitchen equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.- Provide professional, friendly, and attentive guest service throughout all events
- Follow Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), event timelines, room diagrams, and service instructions accurately
- Assist with event setup and breakdown including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, buffets, beverage stations, bars, and décor items as assigned
- Properly set tables with flatware, glassware, napkins, centerpieces, condiments, and service items according to event standards
- Serve plated meals, buffets, passed hors d'oeuvres, beverages, desserts, and other food service items professionally and efficiently
- Prepare and maintain beverage stations including tea, coffee, ice water, lemons, creamers, sweeteners, boba beverages, and related beverage accompaniments as assigned
- Monitor buffet lines, beverage stations, and guest tables throughout service and replenish items as needed
- Maintain awareness of guest needs and communicate issues or requests to captains or management promptly
- Assist with loading, unloading, transporting, and organizing catering equipment and supplies for events Cleaning & Maintenance Responsibilities
- Clear tables, remove dirty dishes, glassware, linens, trash, and service items throughout and after events
- Assist with sweeping, mopping, wiping down tables, cleaning beverage stations, and maintaining cleanliness of banquet and back-of-house areas
- Clean and sanitize service stations, buffet equipment, beverage dispensers, trays, and serving utensils after use
- Assist with dishwashing, sorting silverware, putting away dishes, and organizing banquet equipment as needed
- Break down and properly store tables, chairs, linens, serving equipment, décor items, and catering supplies after events
- Remove trash, boxes, and debris from banquet and service areas to maintain a clean and professional environment Professionalism & Teamwork
- Maintain professional appearance, grooming, and uniform standards at all times
- Work efficiently in fast-paced, high-volume event environments
- Follow direction from captains, managers, chefs, and event leadership professionally
- Assist team members and support other service areas when needed
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional communication with guests and coworkers at all times Safety & Compliance
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards
- Safely handle hot items, trays, glassware, cleaning chemicals, and banquet equipment
- Immediately report guest concerns, accidents, spills, equipment issues, or safety hazards to management Position Expectations
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods during events
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and move banquet equipment and supplies as needed
- Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and event-based scheduling
- Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based on operational and event needs
- Perform additional operational, cleaning, setup, breakdown, prep, or service duties assigned by management as needed Banquet Servers play a critical role in the guest experience and are expected to maintain professionalism, urgency, teamwork, cleanliness, and attention to detail throughout all events.
