Job Description
Barback 4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 113 East Oak Street, Bozeman, MT 59715 From $15 an hour - Part-time Devil's Toboggan/It Will Always be That Way 3 reviews From $15 an hour - Part-time The owners of Devil's Toboggan and It Will Always Be That Way are looking for barbacks. We will offer a creative fresh look at martini style drinks and other cocktails, as well as delicious food served in a fun and inviting atmosphere. The ideal candidates should display a genuine enthusiasm for hospitality and an unwavering desire to be the best. Industry experience can be helpful but is not required. We are willing to train anyone who is motivated and displays high-energy and an eagerness to learn the finer points of the hospitality industry The Barback is the primary support member for the Bartenders. The Barback is one of the first points of contact for guests, and sets the stage for an exceptional guest experience. The Barback helps maintain a clean and organized bar, and manages glassware and barware. The Barback also supports the Servers and Host when applicable.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Greet guests with varied phrases as they enter the bar, and smile. Look the guests in the eyes as they are welcomed in. Be varied and conscious of phrases using "guys, ladies, folks, etc." #1: Prioritizes cleaning/rinsing barware (mixing glasses, shaker tins, jiggers, etc.)Why :
If bartenders have to stop to clean their barware, expo is slowed significantly. Especially during fast-paced and busy nights, the bartender needs limitless clean barware to expedite the drinks within the ticket times. #2: Cleans, rinses, puts away glassware in a timely manner (2-5 seconds/glass) Only carry what your hands can hold, not in your arms. #3: Clears the glass drop (glass bus tubs) consistently, so there is always room for servers and bar to drop glassware. #4: Prioritizes restocking bar elements in the well (juices, simples, liquors)Why :
Similar to #1. If bartenders have to go, find, and restock their juices, simples, liquors, bitters, etc. during service or during tickets, this slows the expo down. We need to get drinks out as quickly and efficiently as possible. HUSTLE.Why:
Our #1 revenue in the bar is drinks. This is 80% of the sales. The drinks must be good, and come out fast. The only way to do this is if the bartender ALWAYS has clean barware, clean glassware, and is assisted in serving bar guests. Grabs house punch samples for table guests, puts them at the drink expo for the servers. Completes prep work as assigned by the bartender. This may include juicing, garnishes, general prep work, and other duties/tasks. Drops menus, waters, house punches to guests seated at the bar, as appropriate . If the bartender is able to drop waters and punches, let them. Clears and busses the bar immediately when a guest leaves. Clears glassware, kitchenware, napkins, menus and books. Wipes the bar and stools down with the tri-folded wet and dry bar rags. Why?: This is the first thing a guest sees when they walk in, especially the center of the bar. We don't want a dirty bar, askew stools, food everywhere to be the first impression. Bar stools - left corner aligns with the coat hooks underneath the bar, foot plate facing forward towards the bar. Scan the bar constantly. Always be looking for new guests, dirty dishes, dirty spots, if anyone needs anything, etc. Do not be blind to bar right in front of you. The bar stools need to look like they are waiting for new guests, not dying from the old guests. Manages the cleanliness and organization of the bar. Ensures the back bar is organized, clean, wiped down. Replaces bar candles as necessary. Always look busy. Standing and waiting is off putting to guests. There's always something that needs wiped, done, etc. Complete bar rounds. •Watering bar guests (without interrupting) , checking candles, clearing glass/kitchenware as possible.Bar Seat Prep:
Verify that bar seats are ready to be seated at. Seats brushed/wiped off, candle and table talker centered, candle in front of table talker, stools lined up with the corresponding coat hook.
