Position Summary:
The Expo / Barback / Drink Runner plays a vital role in supporting both kitchen and bar operations to ensure a seamless guest experience. This position acts as a key connection point between the kitchen, bar, and front-of-house teams by expediting food orders, delivering beverages and dishes accurately, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and supporting efficient service flow during high-volume periods. This team member contributes directly to guest satisfaction by ensuring timely communication, accurate order delivery, quality presentation, and exceptional hospitality throughout the dining and bar areas.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Expo & Service Support:
Expedite food orders by coordinating with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and plating of dishes. Verify that each dish is accurately prepared according to guest specifications and quality standards. Prioritize orders based on table timing, seating flow, and special requests. Serve as a communication link between kitchen staff and front-of-house servers, relaying modifications, allergies, and timing updates. Conduct quality checks to ensure food presentation, temperature, and accuracy meet restaurant standards. Deliver food to tables promptly and accurately while clearly announcing dishes to guests. Assist servers by monitoring ticket flow and running food during peak service periods. Maintain knowledge of the menu, ingredients, and modifications to assist guests with questions. Assist with clearing and resetting tables to support smooth dining room operations. Maintain water service, silverware restocking, and general table maintenance during busy shifts.
Barback & Drink Runner Duties:
Support bartenders by restocking glassware, liquor, beer, wine, ice, garnishes, mixers, napkins, and other bar supplies. Retrieve completed beverage orders and deliver drinks promptly and accurately to guests. Ensure all beverages meet presentation, accuracy, and quality standards before serving. Communicate with bartenders regarding drink timing, placement, and guest requests. Assist bartenders with garnishing and simple beverage preparation as directed. Anticipate bartender needs during high-volume periods and proactively restock supplies. Assist with receiving, labeling, rotating, and storing inventory and deliveries according to company procedures.
Cleanliness & Organization:
Maintain cleanliness and organization in expo stations, bar areas, and dining spaces. Clean and maintain bar equipment including dishwashers, blenders, tools, and juicers. Wash and polish glassware, manage trash and recycling, and maintain sanitary work areas. Keep stations stocked, organized, and ready for continuous service. Monitor inventory levels of expo and bar supplies and communicate restocking needs to management. Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
Teamwork & Guest Experience:
Collaborate with bartenders, servers, kitchen staff, and management to maintain smooth operations and service flow. Respond to guest questions and requests in a professional, friendly, and timely manner. Support overall front-of-house operations during busy service periods. Attend required staff meetings and training sessions. Represent the restaurant with professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude at all times.
Qualifications:
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities under pressure. Attention to detail and commitment to quality service. Previous restaurant, barback, food runner, or expo experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to lift and carry trays, plates, and beverages weighing up to 20 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the restaurant for extended periods. Manual dexterity for handling glassware, plates, trays, utensils, and bar equipment. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, noisy, and crowded environment.

From $16.90 per hour
