THE ROLE
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving beverages in a hospital café environment while delivering a positive and supportive experience to patients, visitors, and staff. This role emphasizes consistency in beverage preparation, adherence to health and safety standards, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace within a healthcare setting.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
Previous barista or food service experience Experience in a healthcare or hospital setting Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP principles) Familiarity with POS systems
MAIN FUNCTIONS
Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, tea, and other drinks according to standardized recipes Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in compliance with hospital and food safety standards Ensure proper use, care, and basic maintenance of coffee equipment and café work areas Restock beverage supplies and monitor inventory levels to support daily operations Follow all infection control, hand hygiene, and workplace safety protocols Maintain a calm and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff Identify and report equipment issues or operational concerns to leadership
WORKING CONDITIONS
Standing for long periods Early morning, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required Fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment
REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and consistency Reliable attendance and punctuality
PREFERRED
Prior barista or food service experience Experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting Knowledge of food safety standards
