This role is ideal for someone who brings strong hospitality instincts, confidence behind the bar, and a genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences. As a Bartender, you will prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages according to The Penthouse standards while providing warm, attentive, and professional service. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, efficient under pressure, and comfortable engaging with guests, making recommendations, and supporting smooth bar and restaurant operations. We are looking for individuals with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a team-oriented attitude. At The Penthouse, we value professionalism, consistency, hospitality, and pride in the guest experience. Responsibilities Welcome guests warmly and provide friendly, attentive, and professional service. Recognize and greet regular guests when appropriate. Read guest preferences, listen carefully, make thoughtful recommendations, and take beverage and food orders accurately. Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, non-alcoholic beverages, and other bar items according to The Penthouse recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines. Select, mix, build, shake, stir, garnish, and serve beverages with consistency and care. Maintain strong knowledge of all beverage offerings, including cocktails, wines, spirits, beers, non-alcoholic selections, and seasonal features. Maintain knowledge of food menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and allergens in order to answer guest questions and make recommendations. Upsell thoughtfully and appropriately to enhance the guest experience. Check identification and verify guests are of legal drinking age before serving alcohol. Provide responsible alcohol service in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal liquor laws. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and responsible beverage service standards. Operate the POS system accurately, including entering orders, processing payments, closing checks, and transferring tabs when needed. Handle cash, credit card, and debit card transactions accurately and responsibly. Balance assigned cash drawer or register as required. Manage multiple guests, orders, and service needs efficiently during busy periods. Keep the bar, bar tops, service areas, tables, and workstations clean, organized, and properly stocked. Restock liquor, wine, beer, mixers, garnishes, glassware, napkins, straws, and other bar supplies as needed. Assist with inventory, product counts, and supply needs as directed by management. Clean and clear tables, bar seating, and service areas when needed. Complete opening, running, and closing duties thoroughly and on time. Work closely with servers, bussers, barbacks, kitchen team members, hosts, and managers to support smooth service flow. Maintain positive guest, team, and interdepartmental relationships at all times. Keep management informed of guest concerns, service issues, accidents, safety concerns, or employee-related matters. Stay familiar with hotel services, restaurant events, special promotions, property features, and local attractions in order to respond to guest inquiries accurately. Support coworkers by sharing knowledge of basic bar terminology, products, and service standards when appropriate. Perform additional reasonable tasks as assigned by management. Qualifications Previous bartending experience in a restaurant, hotel, lounge, or high-volume bar environment preferred. Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and bar service standards. Previous experience with food service and full-service restaurant operations preferred. Experience with POS systems preferred. Strong guest service and communication skills. Friendly, polished, and professional demeanor. Ability to stay calm, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and presentation. Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and service standards. Basic math skills and ability to handle cash and payments accurately. Knowledge of responsible alcohol service requirements. Food handler and responsible beverage service certifications preferred or required based on local regulations. Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to assist wherever needed. Reliable, punctual, and committed to high hospitality standards. Physical Requirements This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, working comfortably in a busy bar and restaurant environment, reaching, bending, lifting, carrying items, handling glassware and bar equipment, and communicating clearly with guests and team members throughout service.
