Job Description

General Description:
The Behavior Support Specialist will support early education educators in effectively working with children who have behavior challenges. This role involves assessing behavioral issues, developing intervention plans, providing training and guidance to educators, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Specific Essential Duties:
Observe and assess children with behavioral challenges to identify underlying causes and specific needs. Work with Educators to develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to each child's needs. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of intervention strategies, making necessary adjustments. Provide training and professional development to early education educators on behavior management techniques and strategies. Offer ongoing guidance and support to educators in implementing behavior plans and managing classroom behavior. Model effective behavior management practices in the classroom setting. Work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals to support children with behavioral challenges. Facilitate communication between educators and families to ensure consistency in behavior management approaches. Participate in team meetings to discuss progress and strategies for individual children. Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social and emotional development of all children. Stay informed about current research and best practices in behavior management and early childhood education. Maintain accurate records of observations, assessments, intervention plans, and progress notes. Prepare and submit reports on the outcomes of behavior interventions and overall program effectiveness. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations. Collaborating with external behavioral health organizations to enhance classroom outcomes. General Requirements:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with children with behavior challenges, preferably in an early education setting. Must complete a Behavior Interventionist Specialist Certification provided by Together We Grow within 6 months of employment. Engage in monthly training sessions, conferences, and in-service programs for required professional development. Strong knowledge of behavior management techniques and intervention strategies Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and other professionals Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with educational software This position requires travel. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and access to their own transportation. Ability to handle high-stress situations and provide support in crisis situations. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with childcare providers, families, staff, and community partners Understanding child development. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with concerns in a positive, unbiased, and ethical manner. Ability to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Benefits:
First 12 Months employees accrue 2 weeks of vacation. After 13 months, you begin to accrue weeks of vacation. You accrue 2 weeks of sick leave each year. 1 Hour Paid lunch Break. 13 Paid Holidays. Other benefits such as, medical Insurance, In lieu of medical insurance, VOC will provide the lowest cost contributed by the agency towards childcare reimbursement or other benefit products such as AFLAC products & Guardian Life insurance. Retirement plan available through Mutual of America, VOC will contribute 2% of your gross pay. If the employee wishes to contribute through employee deductions, he/she may contribute a minimum of 2% of their pay and the agency will add another 1%. Employees are also eligible to start the plan and contribute through payroll deductions after 30 days on the job.
