Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) American Detox and Treatment Center Position Summary American Detox and Treatment Center is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to join our team. BHTs play a critical role in supporting clients throughout the detoxification and residential treatment process by providing direct supervision, emotional support, transportation assistance, and assistance with daily operations to help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. This position requires professionalism, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations while working with individuals recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitor and supervise clients throughout the facility to ensure safety and compliance with program rules Conduct regular rounds and maintain accurate observation documentation Assist with client admissions, room searches, belongings inventory, and orientation to the facility Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients during detox and residential treatment Assist nursing and clinical staff with non-clinical client needs Transport clients to appointments, meetings, or approved outings as assigned Monitor for behavioral changes, safety concerns, withdrawal symptoms, or medical emergencies and immediately report concerns to nursing staff Conduct drug screens and breathalyzer testing as directed Assist with meal distribution, laundry coordination, housekeeping oversight, and maintaining cleanliness of the facility Facilitate or assist with recreational activities and peer engagement Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing education requirements Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Experience in behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, healthcare, mental health, or related field preferred CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime if needed Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements Ability to walk throughout the facility for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations Preferred Qualities Compassionate and empathetic personality Strong teamwork and reliability Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure Passion for helping individuals in recovery Benefits Competitive pay Opportunities for growth and advancement Supportive team environment Meaningful work helping individuals rebuild their lives American Detox and Treatment Center is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for both clients and staff.
