The Behavioral Intervention Coach will work with identified students to adopt behaviors that substantially increase their academic performance and attendance. These students require substantial supplemental behavior intervention and support. In addition, the Behavior Intervention Coach will provide leadership and direction at the school level; working to design, implement, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive behavior support program; and collaboratively work with parents, staff and community agencies. The Behavioral Intervention Coach may provide instruction, diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted students as well as a coaching resource for classroom teachers, paraprofessionals and other district staff.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct intervention (one-on-one or small group), based on student need. Work independently and collaboratively to solve challenging situations. Assist staff in defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedents. Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA's) for the District. Work with individual teachers, groups of teachers and/or the entire staff on issues such as crisis intervention, learning, collaboration issues and factors that can affect development and implementation of interventions. Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which "at risk" students thrive: behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated and provides ample practice, based on student need. Maintain records of student progress. Provide recognition of a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors. Continually supervise students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive, when applicable. Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions. Plan a program of study to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Assist/coach teachers in creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students, in regular or special education. Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, is differentiated to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Design classroom schedules to meet needs of students and fit within the structure of school, in collaboration with building administrators, Process Coordinators, counselors, School Social Worker and the Behavior Support Specialist, as appropriate. Serve as a member of the diagnostic team to conduct testing and develop reports as deemed appropriate and necessary. Serve as a resource for writing, implementing, and evaluating an IEP for each student identified as having a disability. Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Attend staff meetings, workshops, and training. Provide communication to parents and other professionals involved with students. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assume such other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrative personnel.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
