This interdenominational Christian ministry provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the elders, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance. Overall Responsibility:
The Benevolent Program Manager is responsible for the strategic coordination, implementation, and day-to-day management of the Benevolent Program across multiple countries, ensuring alignment with the mission, values, and operational standards of Food For The Poor. This role oversees the full lifecycle of benevolent assistance cases for individuals experiencing urgent medical or humanitarian needs. Responsibilities include case identification and assessment, care planning, coordination with medical providers and in-country partners, financial oversight, reporting, and program monitoring to ensure assistance is delivered effectively, transparently, and in a timely manner. The Benevolent Program Manager also contributes to the ongoing development and strengthening of the program by improving operational processes, enhancing case management systems, and identifying opportunities to expand impact and efficiency across implementation across countries. The role works closely with Project Managers, in-country partners, medical institutions, beneficiaries, and internal departments, including Fundraising, Finance, and Communications.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Design and Development Support the strategic design, expansion, and continuous improvement of the Benevolent Program across multiple countries. Partner with Project Managers and in-country partners to establish, implement, and maintain country-based benevolent programs aligned with organizational priorities and local needs. Identify opportunities to strengthen program operations, improve case management systems, and increase program effectiveness and efficiency. Develop and maintain tools, procedures, workflows, and documentation standards that support accountability, compliance, and effective program delivery. Contribute to the development of policies, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures related to benevolent assistance programs. Program Management and Case Coordination Manage the day-to-day operations of the Benevolent Program in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and established Standard Operating Procedures. Serve as a primary point of contact for beneficiaries, in-country partners, and internal stakeholders regarding benevolent cases and program activities. Coordinate with partners to identify, assess, and validate potential benevolent cases, ensuring all required supporting documentation is obtained and maintained. Prepare detailed case summaries, proposed plans of care, implementation timelines, and cost estimates for review and approval. Present proposed cases and recommendations to the Benevolent Program Committee for evaluation and approval. Monitor approved cases throughout implementation to ensure activities are completed within approved timelines, scope, and budgets. Maintain regular communication with beneficiaries, partners, and service providers to monitor progress and address emerging needs or challenges. Coordinate project closeout activities at the conclusion of the approved implementation period. Collaborate with the Fundraising Division by providing case information, impact stories, reports, and supporting materials to facilitate fundraising initiatives and donor engagement. Conduct field visits and travel, as needed, to supervise and monitor benevolent cases and program activities. Medical Coordination and Institutional Partnerships Develop and maintain a directory of medical facilities, hospitals, and specialized institutions capable of supporting beneficiary medical needs. Identify medical institutions and providers that offer grants, charitable support, discounted services, or reduced-cost treatment options. Coordinate communication with healthcare providers and institutions to determine treatment plans, obtain medical estimates, and negotiate cost-effective solutions whenever possible. Facilitate coordination between beneficiaries, medical facilities, in-country partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and effective treatment delivery. Support the coordination of travel logistics, medical appointments, and related case management activities when applicable. Financial Oversight and Program Administration Support fund allocation processes and ensure appropriate tracking and utilization of benevolent program funds. Track, monitor, and reconcile all expenditures associated with benevolent cases and program activities. Process and coordinate disbursements, reimbursements, debits, credits, and other program-related financial transactions in compliance with organizational procedures. Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation for all benevolent projects and expenditures. Coordinate travel arrangements, issuance of gift cards, and other approved case-related expenditures. Ensure responsible stewardship, transparency, and accountability in the management of benevolent program resources. Reporting, Documentation, and Compliance Prepare and submit timely program updates, case reports, and implementation summaries. Develop donor-facing and fundraising reports highlighting case progress, impact, and program outcomes. Collaborate with internal departments to develop multimedia and impact-focused reporting materials. Provide regular program status updates and performance reports to the International Programs Director. Prepare quarterly financial analysis reports and annual program reports detailing benevolent projects, funding utilization, and program impact. Ensure all required consent forms, Public Relations releases, and supporting documentation are completed and maintained in compliance with organizational requirements prior to sharing case information externally. Maintain accurate and organized program records in accordance with organizational policies and audit requirements.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in International Development, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field required. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in program management, humanitarian assistance, healthcare coordination, nonprofit operations, or international development. Experience managing multi-country or cross-functional programs preferred. Experience coordinating medical or humanitarian assistance cases strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience in financial tracking, budget management, and donor or program reporting. Experience working with international partners, healthcare institutions, and vulnerable populations preferred. Fluency in English required; Spanish proficiency strongly preferred. Ability to travel internationally as required.
