Job Description

Job description Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County (HVHC), a State licensed Volunteer Hospice Organization, is looking for a positive, energetic, compassionate, and organized professional to coordinate our bereavement services program. We are looking for an individual who has a desire to support those experiencing loss while building on the innovative ways HVHC supports those who are grieving in our communities. Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County serves patients with life limiting illness and their families throughout Hancock County, provides support to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, and provides community education on end-of-life related topics, and offers free medical equipment through our equipment loaner program. The Bereavement Coordinator works as a member of the team and coordinates all bereavement services for the organization providing training and education for volunteers, assessment and follow-up for all bereavement clients and community education on grief related topics. The Bereavement Coordinator also co-facilitates support groups with Bereavement Volunteer Facilitators. This position oversees all client records, documentation, and tracking for bereavement numbers. This position also requires collaboration with community referral sources. The candidate for this position must be able to handle multiple priorities, while providing support to those who are grieving and volunteers in their role.
Requirements and Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills. Client assessment skills. Group facilitation skills. Presentation/training skills and speaking experience. Team player, flexible, and able to adapt to change. Experience using Excel, Word, and other databases or comfortable learning new systems.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in social services or equivalent training, education, and experience. Experience working with clients preferred. Experience working with volunteers preferred.
