About Young Audiences Charter Schools Young Audiences Charter Schools (YACS) offers a unique and highly desired arts-integrated model that seamlessly aligns with the identity of the Greater New Orleans Area. With multiple schools in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish, YACS works arduously to achieve its mission of educating the whole child through arts integration and equipping all creative learners to flourish as leaders in life and learning. YACS Creative Learners from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade are provided appropriate arts-integrated learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
(include but not limited to) Maintain a friendly, welcoming, helpful atmosphere for all who visit or contact the school Greet visitors, answer telephone calls in a pleasant and efficient manner, and communicate effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters Maintains inventory of supplies and materials and ensures items' availability. Make announcements and operate the school intercom systems Assist the Principal or designee and staff in handling interruptions and emergencies, calling for assistance when needed Display ethical and professional behavior in working with everyone who communicates or is associated with the office. Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, accepting responsibility, and an effective work ethic Protect confidentiality of records and information about students and staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines Send communication via email, phone, etc. to staff and/or families as directed Implement visitor and safety protocols Distribute report cards, attendance/discipline records, schedules, and transcripts for students upon request Update student contact information in the SIS as it is made available Assist with student attendance monitoring and checkout protocols. Order and distribute quarterly student honors paraphernalia Communicate to the Principal or designee any unusual situations. Advise immediately of any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical conditions, potential suicide, or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, or controlled substances Create and maintain a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and efficient office environment. Open and sort mail into appropriate mailboxes or designees Assist with logistics of school wide events as needed. Recommend to the Director of Operations improvements needed in office procedures or operations. Make announcements and operate the school intercom systems. Maintain attendance data for each staff member. Administers First Aid in the absence of the school nurse. File and maintain volunteer background checks. Maintain student transportation check off sheet and student tags. Support with any additional task as assigned by the Director of Operations or school based Leadership Professional Conduct and Other Exhibit professional judgment and responsibility at all times. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. Participate in assigned morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned Follow attendance policy as assigned by the. supervisor. Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
