Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist is a customer-facing, site-based role responsible for delivering consistent, high-quality HR support to employees and managers. Reporting to the HR Manager and working closely with HR Business Partners (HRBPs), this role owns the execution of day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, compliance, and site culture initiatives. Operating within a matrixed HR model, the HR Generalist partners closely with HRBPs—who own business unit strategy—while serving as the primary owner of the employee experience at the site level. This role ensures HR policies, programs, and practices are executed accurately, consistently, and in alignment with company values and HR "Ways of Working." The Human Resources Generalist must be bilingual In English/Spanish. Core Accountabilities Site HR Ownership (Day-to-Day Execution) Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment-related questions. Own day-to-day employee relations activities, including issue intake, documentation, investigations, corrective action, and follow-up, escalating high-risk matters as appropriate. Manage employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, job changes, and employment status updates. Ensure accurate, timely maintenance of employee records and documentation within the HRIS, partnering with HRIS or payroll teams as needed. Support time and attendance issues, leave administration, and coordination with benefits or disability vendors. Ensure site-level compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, safety requirements, and training obligations. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Support Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and HR Managers to ensure staffing needs are met efficiently and consistently. In partnership with Talent Acquisition- support hourly and non-exempt recruiting execution, including job postings, interview coordination, background checks, and candidate communications Partner with hiring managers to support a positive and compliant hiring and onboarding experience. Employee Experience, Engagement & Culture Champion site engagement and culture initiatives, including talent & development programing, recognition efforts, and engagement survey participation and follow-up. Support local delivery of HR programs and initiatives led by HRBPs (e.g., performance management cycles, change initiatives). Serve as a visible HR presence at the site, building trust and strong working relationships with employees at all levels. Partnership & Collaboration Partner closely with HR Managers and HRBPs to ensure "one HR voice," sharing insights, trends, and emerging risks from the site. Provide data, insights, and on-the-ground feedback to HRBPs to inform talent reviews, workforce planning, and business-unit initiatives. Run and analyze standard and ad hoc HRIS reports to support HR leadership and decision-making. Qualifications 2+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a site-based or field HR role Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion Strong employee relations and issue-resolution skills Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, operational environment Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Analytical and detail-oriented with strong follow-through Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a matrixed HR team Proficiency in Microsoft Office; HRIS experience required (Workday preferred) Physical Requirements/Work Environment Individual Contributor role Approximately 20% travel may be required Primarily office- and site-based work; reasonable accommodations provided as needed While performing the responsibilities of this position, the individual is required to have ambulatory skills sufficient to visit various parts of the winery and other locations. Requires the ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. It also requires sitting, operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other equipment, reading, talking and hearing for extended periods of time. Working conditions in certain production areas of the wineries, warehouses and vineyards can be cold, wet, slippery and noisy. Location St. Helena, California Additional Locations Napa, California, Sonoma, California Job Type Full time Job Area Human Resources The salary range for this role is: $72,700.00 - $106,700.00 This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Our compensation is based on cost of labor. For remote locations or positions open to multiple locations, the pay range may reflect several US geographic markets, including the lowest geographic market minimum to the highest geographic market maximum. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
