Job Description
Billing Associate - Patient Financial Services This position is for a Billing Associate/ Insurance Account Representative.
SUMMARY:
The Billing Associate is responsible and accountable for timely insurance billing, insurance follow-up and monitoring denials. This position requires you to act professionally and respectfully in adverse situations, maintaining the ability to think critically and rationally under stress, while presenting a positive attitude.JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years verifiable customer service experience, with a minimum of one (1) year previous billing experience preferred.Other:
Communicate effectively by telephone, via e-mail and occasionally in person; Organize and prioritize work load to meet personal and unit monthly production goals; Handle a variety of task while remaining detail oriented; Accurately bill both UB (Hospital Claim Forms) and 1500 (Professional Claim Forms); Track, monitor and resolve all claims, payer edits and denials, following policy standards; Exceptional follow through, and documentation skills are a must; Adaptability - must occasionally cover other positions; Knowledge of health insurance including ability to read and explain benefits to determine insurance, provider and patient liability; Proficient with technology, as will use hospital specific computer based programs; Capable of running insurance eligibility, check claim status on payer websites and data entry. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment. Operating effectively in a team, as well as independently, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships is required.Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following. Spend 8 hours or more on the telephone, in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse, daily. Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.Work Environment :
