Operations Manager A Biomass Fuel Yard Operator manages the receiving, handling, and preparation of organic materials (like wood, agricultural waste) for biomass energy production, operating heavy machinery, monitoring feedstock quality, and ensuring safe, efficient yard operations, often involving equipment maintenance, data recording, and adherence to strict environmental rules. They move fuel to processing, operate loaders, forklifts, and sometimes railcar systems, focusing on keeping the fuel supply consistent and ready for the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Handling:

Operate heavy equipment (loaders, dozers, forklifts) to move, stack, and load biomass fuel. •

Feedstock Management:

Inspect, measure, and process raw biomass (wood, waste) to meet quality specifications for the plant. •

Equipment Operation:

Run machinery like Loaders, dozer, forklift and other material handling pieces of equipment. •

Maintenance & Cleaning:

Perform routine checks, cleaning, and minor repairs on yard equipment. •

Safety & Compliance:

Follow strict safety protocols and environmental regulations, often requiring drug testing and background checks. •

Data Recording:

Log operational data, fuel quantities, and report any mechanical issues.

Skills & Qualifications:

Education :

High school diploma or GED usually required. •

Experience :

Prior experience with heavy equipment, biomass, or solid fuel handling is preferred. •

Technical Skills :

Basic mechanical knowledge, ability to operate vehicles, understanding of industrial processes. Ability to use basic hand tools. •

Soft Skills :

Strong communication, problem-solving, and ability to work in a dynamic environment with potential for irregular hours.

Pay:

$23.20 - $31.65 per hour
