Job Title:
Blender Operator Job Description This role supports a food production plant by operating blending and related equipment to mix protein powders and other ingredients according to established standards. The blender operator works on a production team to ensure safe, efficient, and sanitary operations while maintaining accurate documentation and meeting quality and packaging requirements. Responsibilities Work as part of a production team to provide blending, production, and sanitation support in a food processing plant. Operate blending, batching, mixing, and related production equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Comply with all company and regulatory safety standards, policies, procedures, and rules at all times. Work in all assigned areas of production and perform relief duties as required to support continuous operations. Complete and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule and ensure good organization and housekeeping in all work areas. Accurately complete, verify, and submit all required production, quality, and sanitation documentation on a daily basis. Use manual pallet jacks to move materials, ingredients, and finished product safely around the facility. Become forklift certified, if applicable, and safely operate material handling equipment as needed. Read, understand, and complete SOPs and other company documentation related to production, safety, and quality. Participate in and perform Clean in Place (CIP) processes, housekeeping tasks, and proper chemical use for cleaning and sanitation. Assemble and set up equipment prior to production, ensuring all components are properly installed and ready for operation. Label products and packaging according to established packaging and labeling standards. Work with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity, safety, and quality standards. Adapt to working in wet and dusty environments with varying temperatures while maintaining safe work practices. Work on elevated platforms at varying heights to perform production, cleaning, or inspection tasks. Work safely around and with allergens such as soy, wheat, and milk, following all allergen control procedures. Consistently work in a safe and responsible manner and follow all safety policies, procedures, and rules. Promptly report unsafe conditions, near misses, or safety concerns to a supervisor or manager. Immediately report any injury or accident to a supervisor or manager and follow incident reporting procedures. Show a positive attitude, cooperate with team members, and take initiative to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Perform other duties and projects as apparent or assigned to support overall plant operations. For dryer operator responsibilities, train, lead, and develop team members in assigned work areas. Operate the dryer and oversee mixing and bagging operations to ensure consistent product quality and throughput. Provide coverage and support in the supervisor's absence, including coordinating workflow and addressing production issues. Work in confined spaces during cleaning or troubleshooting activities, following all safety and permit procedures. Perform other dryer-related duties as assigned to support production and sanitation goals. Essential Skills Experience within food production preferred, particularly in mixing, blending, batching, or general production operations. High school diploma or equivalent. Good math skills to perform measurements, calculations, and basic data checks. Basic computer skills for data entry and completion of electronic documentation. Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time during 12-hour shifts. Strong problem-solving and deductive reasoning skills to identify and resolve production issues. Ability to lift 50 lbs repetitively throughout the shift. Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs, safety procedures, and production documentation. Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards. Willingness and ability to become forklift certified, if required. Ability to work safely with allergens such as soy, wheat, and milk. Ability to work in wet, dusty environments with varying temperatures. Ability to work on elevated platforms at varying heights. Flexibility to be cross-trained and move between different work centers as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience operating blenders, mixers, batching systems, or other food processing equipment. Experience in general production, general labor, machine operation, or forklift operation. Experience in sanitation, CIP processes, and chemical handling in a food processing environment. Experience training, leading, or developing teams, particularly for dryer operator responsibilities. Experience overseeing mixing and bagging operations in a production setting. Experience working in confined spaces for cleaning or troubleshooting, following safety procedures. Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills. Work Environment This role is based in a food processing plant that mixes protein powders and related products. The position primarily works a 3rd shift (night shift) schedule, typically Monday through Friday on a 2/2/3 split, with a PM shift from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and rotating weekends (three days one week and four days the following week). The environment includes production floors, blending areas, and packaging lines, where you will work around mixers, blenders, batching equipment, dryers, and bagging machines. Conditions may be wet, dusty, and subject to varying temperatures. The role involves standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs repetitively, working on elevated platforms, and occasionally working in confined spaces during cleaning or troubleshooting. You will use manual pallet jacks and, if certified, forklifts to move materials. The facility handles allergens such as soy, wheat, and milk, and follows strict sanitation, CIP, and chemical handling procedures. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) are required in all production areas to meet safety and food safety standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orangeville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
