Immediately Job Description Position Overview The Director of District Operations & Board Clerk serves as a central administrative pillar for USD 420. This redesigned role focuses on board governance, human resources, food service management, and district-wide communications. By transitioning technical payroll execution to an external partner, this position is able to prioritize district compliance, student data integrity, and public relations. Core Responsibilities 1. Board Clerk & Governance Prepare and distribute Board of Education agendas, supporting documents, and meeting minutes. Serve as the official custodian of district records and the Kansas Open Records Act (KORA) officer. Coordinate district elections with the County Election Officer. Manage the publication of all legal notices and district policies in coordination with KASB. 2. Human Resources & Personnel (Non-Payroll)
Recruitment:
Manage job postings on K-REAP, district website, and social media; coordinate interview schedules.
Onboarding:
Facilitate new hire orientation, including contract preparation and benefits enrollment (Health/KPERS).
Compliance:
Track teacher certification/licensure status and ensure all employees have current background checks on file.
Liaison:
Act as the primary point of contact for the external payroll provider (Greenbush), ensuring all contract and salary data is accurate. 3. Food Service Director Oversee the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program. Manage Direct Certification, free/reduced meal applications, and monthly state reimbursement claims. Ensure district compliance with health inspections and nutritional standards. Coordinate with cafeteria staff for inventory management and procurement. 4. Communications & Public Relations
Website Management:
Maintain and update the district website to ensure information is current, accessible, and compliant with state requirements.
Social Media:
Curate and post regular content to district social media channels to highlight student achievements and school events.
Community Relations:
Draft and distribute district-wide newsletters and emergency alerts (e.g., weather closures). 5. Student Data & Compliance Serve as the primary KIDS (Kansas Individual Data System) administrator for state reporting. Coordinate the Open Enrollment process, including application tracking and capacity reporting to the board. Manage the Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) and other periodic federal/state reporting mandates. Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in school district administration, payroll, or food service management is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (Softward Unliminted/PowerSchool experience a plus).
