  • Full-time Lake Norman Brewery is located on eight acres near the western shores of Lake Norman in Denver, North Carolina.
We provide a family and dog-friendly environment with a laidback feel that focuses on a constantly rotating selection of craft beers. Guests enjoy a taproom with picture window views of the brewery, a large beer garden complete with a stage for live music, as well as a banquet room for special events. For small Batch beers we have a 3 BBL electric brewhouse with two 3 BBL fermenters and 3 1 BBL fermenters. We also have a 15 BBL steam brewhouse with 30 BBLs hot and cold liquor tanks, 5 15 BBL and 2 30 BBL fermenters. Our taproom consists of 24 taps for in house beer including 4 nitro taps.
  • We are seeking a full-time Brewer/Cellar Manager who is a team player, has attention to detail, desire for process improvement, and a positive attitude.
This Brewer will be part of a two person team responsible for the entire brewing process from planning to packaging and quality control. This is a full-time salaried position with flexible work hours, primarily day time hours during the week, but occasionaly a night or weekend day. Responsibilities
  • Assist in the brewing process including cleaning, sanitization as well as the actual brewing process on both brewing platforms. Inspect and Maintain brewing equipment.
  • Manage Fermentation Daily measurements of fermenting beer Carbonating and fining of beer Cleaning and sanitizing of fermenters and brite tank Yeast propagation and management Packaging of beer into kegs and cans (future). Cleaning and sanitizing of kegs and packaging equipment Canning line experience a plus
  • Inventory and organization of brewing ingredients
  • Cleaning and organization of the brewery room
  • Adhere to and and keep up to date on all SOPs and safety protocols
  • Tap line maintainence and cleaning
  • Creating and developing to style and innovative beer recipies
  • Conducting regular tastings through out the brewing process as well as finished products for quality assurance.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications Previous professional brewing experience. Always acts professionally and is responsible with alcohol Proficient verbal, written, and group communication skills. Cicerone Certified is a plus Basic understanding of computers, cloud based applications and MS office programs. Experience with brewing software (Beer30 and BeerSmith a plus) Understanding of basic chemistry (PH and gravity
  • plato) and biology (yeast and bacteria) Yeast propagation, health check and counting a plus.
Able to drive a forklift in tight space Able to work safely with potentially hazardous chemicals Physical Requirements Able to maneuver 165 pounds kegs and be able to move kegs with the help of a dolly Able to lift 44 pounds (bags of fruit puree) over head to add to fermenters. Able to lift 55 pound bags of grain at shoulder hight to add to grain mill. Ability to work safely on a ladder Able to stand and walk on hard surfaces for the entire shift. Able to move pallets with a pallet jack weighing in excess of 2000 pounds. Willingness to work in slippery, wet and dusty conditions
