Why you'll love this position: The bridge maintenance/ office superintendent supervises and coordinates the activities at a district-wide level, including bridge repair crews, structural steel painting crews and operational support for district maintenance. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision. Responsibilities - What you'll do
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Full Supervision Performs district wide site inspections to evaluate maintenance, repair and painting needs, and to evaluate safety procedures and compliance. Performs supervisory responsibilities in a manner consistent with the department's Affirmative Action Program, including making employment-related decisions, assigning work, training, employee development, documenting performance, and conducting performance management. Develops work priority lists, schedules and assigns work to bridge maintenance crews performing routine and emergency bridge repairs, maintenance, and painting. Coordinates bridge maintenance activities and reviews work through periodic field visits. Includes CO Bridge in decision making and work-related items when needed. Key role in the development and execution of the District Incident Response Plan. Serves as district EOC coordinator. Assigned weekly rotation for on-call phone calls during winter events which include calling into situational awareness calls, updates from superintendents and activating the EOC. Maintains material inventory and equipment needs for both general maintenance and bridge maintenance needs. Reviews materials and equipment usage reports, expenses, inventory records, and crew reports. Reviews field conditions of the bridges on the program and inspects and assesses bridge damage. Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED/HiSET Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restriction and interstate status (either Excepted [EI] or Non-Excepted [NI]). Employee will be required to attend training on the use of respirators yearly and pass a respirator fit test every six months. Eight years of experience in bridge maintenance, including supervisory positions.
Special Working Conditions:
Job requires regular, statewide, overnight travel. Job requires moderate physical activity. Job requires exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions. Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
