  • Front Counter The Village is accepting applications for a 20
  • 25 hour per week Accounting Specialist to provide a combination of front counter customer service and accounts receivable/collections support at the Civic Center by processing invoices, collecting payments, maintaining accurate records, responding to customer inquiries, and properly addressing delinquent accounts.
The successful candidate will have strong communication and analytical skills, be proficient in Excel, and be able to organize work, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal direction.
Major Duties and Functions:
  • Processes all payments to the Village with daily balancing of cash register drawer
  • Greets persons entering the establishment, determines the nature and purpose of the visit, answers questions accordingly, and directs them to specific destinations
  • Performs accounts receivable duties for quarterly parking, monthly invoices, and other miscellaneous receivables
  • Maintains accounts receivable customer records in the Village's financial software system
  • Runs and analyzes monthly accounts receivable aging reports
  • Performs collection procedures to follow up on past-due invoices that include sending and following up on emails and calling past-due accounts
  • Provides notary public and voter registration services
  • Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with an emphasis on effective communication, proactive thinking, and problem-solving
  • Skilled in accounts receivable processes, including collections
  • Skilled in handling and counting money, including daily balancing of the cash drawer
  • Strong analytical skills necessary to perform numerical calculations to verify totals and balances. This includes knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word etc.) and Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
  • Ability to carry out instructions and multitask in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions, without a loss of detail, productivity, or quality of work
Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree in accounting or finance preferred, plus two to three years of customer service and accounts receivable/collections experience, or any combination of education and experience that produces the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Salary and Benefits:
The full salary range for this position is $24.70
  • $33.
96 per hour, with a starting salary up to $29.64. If scheduled for 1,000 hours annually, this position qualifies for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) and the plan's voluntary benefits, including supplemental life insurance (NCPERS) and Voluntary Additional Contributions (an after-tax savings vehicle). The Village also offers life insurance with $20,000 in coverage. A part-time employee is entitled to paid leave at 0.025 hours for every one (1) hour worked during each pay period.
