Newark, New Jersey We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Dental Billing Representative to join our team at a busy dental school in Newark, New Jersey. This position works directly with patients, students, and staff and assists with non-covered services, Medicaid waiver forms, and the review and follow-up of dental billing and charge reports. The ideal candidate is reliable, proactive, comfortable communicating with patients, and able to stay organized and follow through on assigned tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment. Bilingual English/Spanish is required, as this position involves frequent communication with Spanish-speaking patients. Training will be provided on our specific processes, workflows, and systems. Responsibilities Meet with patients when dental treatment or services are denied or not covered by insurance. Present and explain Medicaid waiver forms to patients and obtain required signatures prior to treatment, when applicable. Make sure completed waiver forms are properly documented and maintained. Run and review dental billing and charge reports to identify missing, incomplete, or non-approved charges. Follow up with the appropriate staff regarding missing or non-approved charges that require correction or review. Track outstanding billing and charge-related items and follow through until they are resolved. Communicate professionally with patients, students, providers, and staff regarding billing related matters. Maintain accurate and organized documentation. Perform other related duties as assigned. Experience & Qualifications High school diploma required. Bilingual English/Spanish is required. Knowledge and understanding of CDT dental procedure codes required. Must be comfortable speaking and explaining information to patients in both English and Spanish. Previous dental, medical, insurance, billing, or healthcare office experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred Strong customer service and communication skills. Comfortable discussing insurance coverage, non-covered dental services, and patient financial responsibility directly with patients. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new billing systems and workflows. We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
