Busy multi-specialty medical group is seeking a motivated, hard working, goal oriented, highly accurate medical biller to join our Corporate Office billing team. This is an onsite position. Do not apply unless you can work in the office. Recent medical billing, claims submission, and A/R experience is preferred. Salary commensurate with experience. The Medical Biller is responsible for all aspects of the revenue cycle process. This position promotes the revenue integrity and reimbursement for the organization by ensuring timely and accurate billing and collections of accounts. A strong background in medical billing and A/R follow-up is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Date Entry:
accurately enters demographic information and verifies insurance Ensures that all claims are reviewed, entered and submitted electronically in a timely manner using the claims management system (Athena). Reviews all claim edits/claim rejections and makes the necessary corrections ensuring compliance with all federal, state and specific payer requirements. Utilizes resources available to monitor outstanding claims and ensures claim follow-up does not exceed payer filing limits. Researches and initiates corrected claims and appeals on denied claims following the specific payer requirements. Identifies compliance risk and proactively recognizes and rectifies any issues to prevent payer audits. Monitors and identifies claim rejections or denials for trends from the payer and reports them to management. Quickly answer inbound calls efficiently and politely, minimizing hold time. Answer patient questions and provide assistance when necessary. Other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of HCPCS, CPT and diagnosis codes. Maintains a thorough understanding of federal and state regulations as well as specific payer requirements to promote compliant claim submission practices. Maintains full knowledge of the software systems in areas relating to billing. Demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail with timely follow through. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Good problem-solving skills. Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and take initiative. Ability to communicate professionally with all insurance carriers, patients, providers, staff, co-workers focusing on exceptional and proactive customer service.
Qualifications:
2+ years of recent medical billing experience, multi-specialty preferred. Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding Experience with EHR systems (Athena is a plus) Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
