A SNAP Family Well Being Specialist assists families in navigating the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), providing support and resources to ensure they access benefits and meet their needs . They conduct outreach, pre-screen clients for eligibility, and help with enrollment using systems like Gateway. Additionally, they may connect clients with other stabilizing resources and community services.
Key Responsibilities:
Outreach and Education:
Conduct community outreach to educate families about SNAP benefits, often through presentations, workshops, and events.
Eligibility Assessment:
Provide one-on-one pre-screenings to determine SNAP eligibility and assist with the enrollment process.
Benefits Enrollment:
Utilize systems like Gateway to help clients enroll in SNAP and other benefits.
Resource Connections:
Connect clients with HAGA resources and community services, including emergency financial assistance, food assistance, and other support programs.
Follow-up and Support:
Provide ongoing support and follow-up with clients to ensure they are accessing benefits and maintaining housing stability.
Case Management:
Maintain accurate client records, utilize case management systems, and prepare reports.
Qualifications:
Education:
S ome college preferred
Language Skills:
Fluency in English and Spanish is often required.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience:
Experience working with diverse populations and a background in crisis intervention or conflict resolution are often preferred.
