Job Description

COMPANY At the Center for Children, children's mental health is our priority! We are Southern Maryland's leading organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse and the promotion of positive mental and behavioral health. Proudly serving our communities for over thirty years, our team of professionals provides mental health evaluations, psychological testing, and a variety of therapy services. With three outpatient clinics licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and 19 programs, Center for Children serves more than 4,500 individuals each year in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Howard, Prince George's, and St. Mary's counties.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Insurance Specialist contributes to the success of the Center by securing authorizations for services provided! This position provides administrative support to doctors; verifies insurance and policy benefits; obtains authorizations and referrals and functions as an integral part of the front office team! Schedule - M - F, 40-hour work week Occasional evenings, weekends or commuting to the other counties when covering for team members
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete insurance verifications. Obtain all necessary referrals and authorization for treatment as required by payor and enter information into system. Run daily and weekly reports to ensure authorizations are properly completed for future appointments. Monitor authorization expiration dates and re-apply as needed. Provide support for Doctors including prescriptions requests and medical records documentation. Register clients for Parenting Classes. Collect payments, send confirmations, order supplies and set up room for Parenting Classes. Schedule DJS/DSS/Private psychological and psychosexual evaluations Complete monthly billing for services to DJS, DSS and FRC. Communicate with client/parent/guardian as needed regarding benefits, auths, referrals or other necessary information, and document in system. Cross train for both Receptionist and Billing Specialists and fill in when needed. Any other duties as assigned by Front Officer Supervisor and Executive Director.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma required; 2 years experience in clinical office preferred Excellent customer service skills!
