Job Vacancy Announcement Position Information Position Title Specialist, F-1 Student Support and Special Program Admissions Position Type Staff Department Student Affairs FLSA Non-Exempt Union/Non Union Union Full Time or Part Time Full Time Grade 12 Salary Range Hiring Salary Range $56,513 - $61,948 Fixed Term/Tenure Track (Faculty Only) Regular or Temporary Regular Job Description Summary The Specialist, F-1 Student Support and Special Program Admissions is responsible for evaluating all international transfer credit, coordinating the admission of F-1 students to the College, serving as the College's Designated School Official ( DSO ), maintaining all appropriate Student and Exchange Visitor Information System ( SEVIS ) reporting and records, and understanding United States Customs and Immigration Services ( USCIS ) requirements as it relates to F-1 students. Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating the admission process for nursing and allied health petitioners. Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree or higher required. Two years of higher education experience required, specifically in a college or university registrar's office or in another higher education student services office. Experience with SEVIS and supporting F-1 students preferred. Spanish fluency preferred. Criteria
CRITERIA
: The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process. A Resume/CV and cover letter are required with the application. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Serve as the Designated School Official ( DSO ) for Prince George's Community College. Serve as primary point of contact for current and prospective F-1 students. Advise F-1 students on USCIS requirements regarding enrollment, travel, maintaining status, change of status, transferring, etc. Ensure that all prospective F-1 applicants have submitted all College and federally required documentation, including appropriate financial and local sponsorship. Issue admission letters and create and issue I-20s. Coordinate initial F-1 enrollment to ensure students meet USCIS enrollment requirements. Verify that all F-1 students are maintaining status as per USCIS requirements continuously. Manage all SEVIS reporting including day-to-day updates and biennial recertification. Remain informed of, and adhere to, all USCIS requirements for F-1 students. Establish sustainable nursing and allied health admission and registration business processes Receive and evaluate nursing and allied health petitions. Issue nursing and allied health acceptance letters and activate student programs in Colleague. Coordinate nursing and allied health registration each semester. Serve as primary point of contact for nursing and allied health petitioning students and the academic department as it relates to the petitioning process. Evaluate all requests for international transfer credit and communicate international transfer credit decisions to students in accordance with college policies and procedures. Collaborate with Transfer Coordinator to evaluate non-international transfer credit in accordance with department and state transfer policies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and database. Ability to work well under pressure and provide excellent customer service. Assist students and collaborate with staff, faculty, partners, and other institutions while fostering positive relationships. Job Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Hours:
10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work. A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
