Match Support Specialist Reports To:
Program Director Employment Status:
Full-Time, Exempt Position Summary Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin is seeking a caring, organized, and adaptable Match Support Specialist to support positive, safe, and lasting relationships between youth and adult volunteers. This position is responsible for providing ongoing support to children, families, and volunteers throughout the life of each mentoring match. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who can build trusting relationships, identify and resolve challenges, provide guidance and support, and maintain accurate documentation. This role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring child safety and positive youth development. Essential Responsibilities Provide ongoing support to youth, parents/guardians, and adult volunteers throughout the mentoring relationship, with a focus on child safety, relationship development, youth outcomes, and volunteer satisfaction. Regularly assess matches, identify potential challenges or barriers, and develop strategies to strengthen relationships and promote match longevity. Conduct required match assessments and youth outcome surveys according to agency standards and timelines. Provide individualized guidance, resources, training, and support to youth and volunteers based on their needs. Apply child safety and risk management policies and procedures in all aspects of the position. Develop and facilitate activities and engagement opportunities that encourage continued volunteer involvement and strengthen connections with the agency. Maintain positive relationships with volunteers and families through regular communication, recognition, events, and re-engagement efforts. Conduct exit interviews when matches close, document reasons for closure, and assess opportunities for re-matching or continued volunteer involvement. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records and use agency technology to document, track, and analyze match information and outcomes. Collaborate with program staff and other departments to support quality services and identify opportunities for volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and donor involvement. Attend agency events and participate in other activities that support the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, human resources, education, psychology, or a related field required. Experience working with children, families, volunteers, or adult populations. Experience building and maintaining supportive relationships. Understanding of child development and family dynamics. Experience in case management, mentoring, counseling, education, or a related human services field is preferred. Skills & Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to build and maintain appropriate, supportive relationships with youth, families, and adult volunteers. Strong listening, coaching, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions independently. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to collect, document, and analyze information and use data to support decision-making. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team. Caring, adaptable, self-motivated, and committed to positive youth development. Additional Requirements Valid driver's license, reliable access to an automobile, and required automobile insurance. Ability to travel throughout the community as needed. Successful completion of required Big Brothers Big Sisters child safety, youth protection, and cultural competency training within designated timeframes.
