Job Title:

MDT Coordinator / Forensic Interviewer Purpose The MDT Coordinator is tasked with coordinating the MDT team (Law Enforcement, Department of Children's Services, and Prosecution) by facilitating collaborative relationships with partners and community organizations and for leading efforts to ensure coordinated response to child abuse investigations. Following the ChildFirst Forensic Interview Protocol, the MDT Coordinator/Forensic Interviewer participates as a neutral member of a multidisciplinary (MDT) team to apply the latest research to real-world interview situations to solicit details of the alleged abuse as part of the investigative process. The Forensic Interviewer may also prepare a written report of the interview and offer court testimony regarding best practice for forensic interviewing and on the nature of child abuse and the disclosure process. Key Responsibilities and Duties MDT Coordinator Duties Maintain a current list of active MDT members for each county served; as well as regular communication with MDT agencies and their designated representatives Develop, implement, and maintain an MDT data tracking system that will produce measurable data Ensure that inter-agency agreements are current and signed by appropriate partner agencies Identify and manage training needs among the different MDT agencies Network among agencies involved in the MDT to facilitate clear understanding of their role within the team and in specific cases Forensic Interviewer Duties After becoming certified in the ChildFirst Forensic Interview Protocol, conduct forensic interviews of children and adolescents alleging abuse Facilitate pre/post interview multidisciplinary case staffing Properly manage video and audio equipment; documenting all services provided to clients according to center requirements and guidelines Respond to subpoenas and testify when requested Must be willing to provide on call, after hours coverage Participate in case review and present cases when requested Collect, manage, and enter data in the case tracking systems Assist with coordinating interview schedule; assist with Advocacy services when needed Participate in peer review, professional development, and on-going training activities both at the state and national level Conduct professional and community in-service trainings about interviewing and/or the dynamics of child abuse General Administration Duties Exemplify leadership in improvement and assistance with the development and implementation of CAC programs and services Help with fundraisers and special events Assist Executive Director with administration including grant writing Maintain office and provide day to day administrative duties including mail, phones, filing, and distribution of information Assist with routine cleaning and maintenance of the center's facility Other duties as assigned; abide by all center policies and procedures Success Criteria The Forensic Interviewer must maintain current knowledge in the areas of the forensic interview process including issues of language, memory, suggestibility, and current legal challenges in the field; the investigation of prosecution of child abuse and neglect cases; family violence, substance abuse, and the dynamics of all forms of child abuse; the criminal justice and child welfare system; and other concerns impacting children and families from diverse backgrounds. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a cooperative manner with diverse professional groups and the ability to effectively speak and interact with the children, parents, and all members of the MDT team. The Forensic Interviewer must be able to meet on-call requirements and respond to emergency situations. Must possess strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to accomplish projects with little supervision. This position will require a somewhat flexible schedule with the ability to travel for training and community events. Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and auto insurance are required. Must be able to pass thorough state and federal background checks. Suggested Experience and Education Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, criminal justice, education, or a related field A minimum of two years of professional experience working with children and families, preferably where abuse and violence are identified concerns Preferred experience working in the criminal justice or child welfare system EEO Statement We are an equal opportunity employer.
