Job SummaryAbout the study:
University of Michigan College of Health and Human Services, University of Michigan School of Nursing, and Heart to Grow, a national expert in faith-based and reproductive justice-informed sexual and reproductive health education, are partnering to develop a faith-based healthy relationships and sexual and reproductive health intervention that upholds principles of reproductive justice, bodily autonomy, and Islamic values for Muslim American adolescents and young adults (AYAs; 18-30 years) in Southeast Michigan. Methods include focus groups with key stakeholders that will generate knowledge and consensus for the content, design, and implementation strategies of a future intervention, and surveys and semi-structured interviews with Muslim American AYAs that explore gaps in sexual and reproductive health knowledge and attitudes, outcomes, and access. The study will inform the content and implementation strategies of a community intervention.
Hours:
6-8 hours per week, flexible around clinical and academic schedule
Term:
Fall 2026 and Winter 2027Responsibilities

•Current enrollment at a University of Michigan-Dearborn campus.
Possess Cultural competency and passion for community-engaged research, Demonstrate respectful engagement with Muslim American and/or SWANA communities.
Awareness of cultural norms around gender, sexuality, family, and faith, as well as reliable ethical judgment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Familiarity with community-based participatory research (CBPR) principles and reproductive justice frameworks and/or prior coursework in social determinants of health or health equity research is preferred.
Ideal candidate would have experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis.
