This is not an entry-level legal position. We are looking for someone who understands California litigation procedures, court filing requirements, calendaring, and the day-to-day demands of supporting busy litigation attorneys. Our preference is for this position to work from our Lafayette office, although hybrid or fully remote arrangements may be considered for a highly experienced candidate who has the ability to work independently and reliably.

Compensation:

$60,000 - $80,000 Depending on

Experience Responsibilities:

Calendar and monitor California litigation deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, discovery deadlines, and court appearances Prepare, format, proofread, and file pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, subpoenas, and other legal documents E-file documents in California state and federal courts Manage attorney calendars and coordinate meetings, depositions, hearings, and mediations Coordinate service of process and filing requirements Review incoming court notices, correspondence, and case-related communications Maintain organized electronic case files and matter records Track litigation deadlines and assist attorneys in maintaining compliance with applicable court rules Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and vendors Assist with discovery organization, document production, exhibits, hearing binders, and trial preparation Provide administrative and case-management support to attorneys and paralegals

Qualifications:

Required:

Significant experience working in a California law firm Strong experience supporting California civil litigation Working knowledge of California state court procedures, filing requirements, and litigation calendaring Experience with electronic filing in California state and federal courts Strong Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and general computer skills Excellent proofreading, formatting, organization, and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities High attention to detail and strong follow-through Ability to work independently while also functioning well as part of a team Professional communication skills with attorneys, clients, courts, and opposing counsel
