The ideal candidate will support office attorneys in delivering exceptional service to our clients in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This is an in-office position based at our Lexington office.
JOB SUMMARY
The ideal candidate will provide support to attorneys, handling moderate to complex tasks related to case preparation and management, billing, calendaring and research. Tasks may include preparation of transactional documents, estate planning documents, drafting legal documents and correspondence, assisting with depositions, and managing large volumes of documents. The ideal candidate will also assist with legal research, factual analysis, and routine legal tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, contracts, estate planning documents, and other documents specific to the practice. Assist with case filings and preparation. Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings. Conduct research using legal databases such as Westlaw. Maintain organized files and records. Handle phone inquiries with professionalism and provide excellent phone etiquette. Support project management tasks by tracking deadlines and ensuring timely completion of assignments. Collaborate with attorneys on various legal matters and provide administrative assistance as needed. Manage litigation cases, including document organization, retrieval, production, and preparing exhibits for depositions and trials. Prepare deposition exhibits, review and digest deposition transcripts, and assist with trial exhibit preparation. Ensure proper indexing, filing, and organization of legal documents, utilizing litigation and billing support software or other methods as required Perform general administrative and miscellaneous duties and scheduling as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, or a Paralegal Certificate, or a four-year Bachelor's degree in a related field. Minimum of 1 year of experience in legal practice and/or office administration, including experience from pre-trial through trial and post-trial activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency with legal research tools, litigation software, word processing, and spreadsheet applications. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to compile, organize, and verify information. Advanced writing skills, including the ability to draft legal documents and correspondence clearly and accurately. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with clients, and third parties regarding ongoing legal matters.
