Job Summary:
Established solo plaintiff personal injury and workers' compensation law practice in Linden, NJ, seeks an experienced, self-motivated Paralegal or Legal Secretary. This position requires someone with a minimum of 5 years of solid experience in plaintiff litigation and petitioner workers' compensation who can hit the ground running and manage case files with minimal supervision in a collaborative, supportive office setting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Draft initial pleadings, motions, answers, and correspondence for New Jersey personal injury (motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, premise liability) and Workers' Compensation matters. Electronically file (e-file) court documents through New Jersey eCourts and the NJ Division of Workers' Compensation online filing systems. Prepare and answer form and supplemental interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery demands. Request, organize, index, and summarize medical records, treatment bills, and narrative physician reports. Manage calendar deadlines, including court appearances, conferences, depositions, and independent medical evaluations (IMEs). Communicate professionally with clients, insurance carriers, adversary counsel, and court personnel.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum of 5 years of solid, hands-on experience in New Jersey Plaintiff Personal Injury and Workers' Compensation (Petitioner side). Proficiency in New Jersey e-filing systems (eCourts and NJ Workers' Comp online platform). Strong computer proficiency, including document preparation, legal management software, and MS Office. Solid understanding of medical terminology, records review, and lien verification. Ability to work independently, prioritize caseloads, and exercise sound judgment. Candidates residing locally in Union County, Middlesex County, or nearby surrounding communities are strongly preferred.
