In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG coding systems. Your expertise will ensure precise billing and efficient revenue cycle management, contributing to seamless health insurance claim processing and medical record documentation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced EMR/EHR systems and play a key role in optimizing our healthcare facility's financial performance while maintaining compliance with medical coding guidelines. Duties Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes based on documented diagnoses and procedures Ensure accurate electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding processes using specialized billing software Prepare and submit health insurance claims for third-party payers, verifying coverage details and ensuring timely processing Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies and re-submission processes Maintain comprehensive documentation of medical records, coding decisions, and billing transactions in accordance with regulatory standards Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or incomplete records for accurate coding Stay current with updates in medical coding guidelines, including changes related to ICD coding systems (ICD-9 to ICD-10) and CPT coding standards for inpatient and outpatient services Assist in revenue cycle management by monitoring billing workflows, ensuring compliance with health insurance policies, and optimizing cash flow Experience Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, preferably with familiarity in inpatient services and outpatient procedures Strong knowledge of
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
