Urgent Care is an independently owned, growing urgent care organization committed to providing exceptional patient care with outstanding customer service. We are looking for a detail-oriented, proactive Medical Biller who takes pride in accuracy, problem-solving and helping maximize the financial health of our organization. Position Summary The Medical Biller is responsible for submitting and following up on insurance claims, resolving claim denials, posting payments, managing patient balances and ensuring timely reimbursement for services provided. This role works closely with clinic leadership to improve billing processes, reduce outstanding accounts receivable and support the overall financial success of MEDIQ. Primary Responsibilities Submit electronic insurance claims accurately and timely Review claims for completeness and accuracy before submission Follow up on unpaid and denied claims with insurance carriers Research and resolve claim rejections and billing issues Post insurance and patient payments accurately Process refunds and adjustments as appropriate Work accounts receivable aging reports and maintain collection goals Verify insurance benefits and eligibility when needed Communicate professionally with insurance companies and patients regarding billing questions Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all applicable billing regulations Document account activity thoroughly and accurately Identify trends and recommend process improvements to reduce denials and improve collections Assist with other revenue cycle duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Medical billing experience required (urgent care, primary care, emergency medicine, or physician practice preferred) Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding principles Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and workers' compensation Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management systems Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel Preferred Qualifications CPC, CPB or other billing/coding certification Urgent care or multi-site physician practice experience Experience with denial management and revenue cycle analytics What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, enjoys solving problems and is committed to continuous improvement.
