Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prior Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team along with medical assistant . In this role, you will be responsible for managing the prior authorization process for medical and dental services, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements, and facilitating effective communication between healthcare providers and insurance companies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding, as well as experience with insurance verification and managed care processes. Duties Review and process prior authorization requests for medical procedures. Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for services. Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for authorization. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling patient information. Maintain accurate records of all prior authorization requests and outcomes. Collaborate with insurance companies to resolve any issues related to authorization denials or delays. Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding guidelines (ICD-10, ICD-9), and managed care practices. Provide support in medical coding and documentation review as needed. Schedule hospital procedures and clinic procedures with the hospital and the patients Skills Proficient in medical coding, including knowledge of ICD-10 and ICD-9 codes. Familiarity with medical records management and insurance verification processes. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with healthcare providers and insurance representatives. Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of dental office procedures is a plus. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records. Familiarity with managed care systems and processes is advantageous.
