We currently support five medical providers and are looking for someone with strong dermatology billing experience who understands the full revenue cycle—not simply claim submission. The right candidate will be comfortable identifying coding issues, navigating payer requirements, working denials, obtaining prior authorizations, and following claims through appropriate reimbursement. Dermatology billing experience and ModMed/EMA experience are strongly preferred. This is not an entry-level billing position. Responsibilities Review claims and provider documentation for coding accuracy and completeness Submit clean claims accurately and within timely filing requirements Work billing for a multi-provider dermatology practice Review CPT and ICD-10 coding for accuracy Understand E/M coding and appropriate use of Modifier 25 Work with Medicare, Medicaid/state-funded plans, HMO plans, and commercial insurance carriers Understand referral and authorization requirements for HMO and managed-care plans Obtain, track, and manage prior authorizations Review and resolve rejected and denied claims Follow up on unpaid and underpaid claims Review EOBs and ERAs for payment accuracy Submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals when necessary Identify payer-specific billing and documentation requirements Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status and reimbursement issues Work with providers and clinical staff to resolve documentation and coding concerns Identify recurring denial trends and opportunities to improve reimbursement Maintain organized and accurate billing records Stay current on coding updates and payer policy changes Required Qualifications Previous medical billing and coding experience Strong knowledge of dermatology billing and coding Experience using ModMed/EMA Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding Strong understanding of E/M coding and Modifier 25 Experience with Medicare Experience with Medicaid/state-funded insurance plans Understanding of HMO plans, referrals, and prior authorization requirements Experience working claim denials, rejections, corrections, and appeals Strong understanding of insurance reimbursement and revenue cycle processes Excellent attention to detail Ability to independently research and resolve billing issues Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize effectively Preferred Experience CPC or other professional coding certification Mohs surgery billing and coding Dermatologic surgery coding, including biopsies, excisions, destruction procedures, and repairs Experience working in a busy, multi-provider specialty practice About Valley Dermatology Valley Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center is a growing dermatology practice in Spokane Valley providing medical, surgical, and skin cancer care to our community.
